What is WoodSong?
WoodSong is a music platform with four connected portals — for players, students, teachers, and instrument repair (luthiers). Each portal is built around what that person actually needs day to day, not a one-size-fits-all app.
Who is WoodSong for?
Any instrument, not just strings. WoodSong started with a strings-focused feature set (string log, luthier repair tracking) but works fully for piano players, students, and teachers too.
What are the four portals?
- WS Player — a personal practice space: instrument vault, tuner, metronome, practice timer, journal.
- WS Student — for students taking lessons with a WoodSong teacher: assignments, practice log, note awards.
- WS Teacher — studio management: students, assignments, gradebook, sheet music, invoices, progress reports.
- WS Luthier — for instrument repair shops: job intake, bench log, inventory.
What does each portal cost?

Who processes payments?
Freemius, WoodSong's payment processor — PCI-compliant payments through Freemius.
What's your refund policy?
WoodSong offers a 14-day satisfaction guarantee — a refund if the product was missing a feature, didn't work as expected, or had an unresolved problem.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes — cancel anytime, and you keep access through the end of the period you already paid for.
Does WoodSong collect data on students, including minors?
Yes. WoodSong's student portal may be used by minors under teacher supervision. Users under 13 require parental consent (COPPA/PIPEDA); users under 16 in the EU require parental consent (GDPR Art. 8). WoodSong collects a parent permission form during soft launch for minors. How do I sign up?
Pick your portal during signup — Player, Student, Teacher, or Luthier — each gets its own account type.
How does a student connect with their teacher?
Teachers invite students by email from WS Teacher. Once accepted, the student's WS Student portal shows that teacher's name, studio, and assignments automatically.
Can I use more than one portal — like WS Player and WS Student together?
Yes — you're not limited to one. Plenty of people use WS Player for their own practice and WS Student for their lessons side by side.
What do I need to use the tuner?
Microphone access, granted when your browser prompts you. WoodSong only uses it for pitch detection — audio isn't recorded or stored.
Which browsers are supported?
WoodSong works in all modern browsers. A couple of teacher-portal convenience features (like voice-to-text note entry) use your browser's built-in speech recognition, which isn't available in Firefox — everything else works the same everywhere.
